Malvan - Tarkarli ... Day 2

As planned on day 1, we got up and were ready by 6:30 am. We reached Rameshwar temple within 5 minutes. Deolwada is around half a km from the Bharad Naka. Bharad Naka is the center of Malvan. Guruji brought all the required things including sovla for Abhishek. The Abhishek was finished by 8:00 am. We thanked guruji for arranging this pooja despite his tight schedule. We got blessings of Shree Rameshwar. Then we went to see Sateri devi temple which is the gram devta of Malvan. This temple is at 2 minutes walk from Rameshwar temple.

Then we returned to our rooms. We had already planned to visit nearby Rameshwar temples. We left our rooms after having good breakfast (pohe) and tea. Inamdar Shree Dev Rameshwar Sansthan is a well known Rameshwar temple in Aachra village, Malvan. It is around 25 kms from Malvan. The road was excellent having beautiful views. We stopped multiple times to take photos.

Aachra Rameshwar is the biggest Rameshwar sansthan in Malvan. It’s an old temple built around 700 to 1000 years back. It still has wooden pillars with beautiful carvings. After seeing the temple and its surroundings for half an hour we went to Kandalgaon Rameshwar mandir which is around 15 kms from Aachra. Aachra’s beach is also famous for white sand and clear water. We couldn’t visit the beach due to time constraint. However I decided that we will come back next year to explore malvan further.

After taking blessing at Kandalgaon Rameshwar mandir we returned to malvan and had tasty lunch at Swami’s restaurant which is next to Mama Varerkar theatre. The veg and non veg thalis were very good. After having lunch we returned to our rooms and take rest for the afternoon.

Evening was planned to visit tarkarli beach. At 5 pm we left the rooms and went to tarkarli. Devbaug is a place near tarkarli which has group of islands. You have to hire a boat which takes you to these islands and it’s a 2 hrs ride. While driving to devbaug, it started raining slightly. So we decided to skip devbaug visit and went to tarkarli beach. You can enter tarkarli beach from the MTDC resort. Tarkarli beach is one of the best beaches I have seen after the South Goa’s Majorda beach. We enjoyed the fresh air, ocean water for an hour or so. There were quite a few tourists enjoying the beach since it was Saturday. From tarkarli beach you can see Sindhudurga fort at a distance. It was getting darker, so we went to Malvan market to do some shopping. I would definitely recommend kaju, kaju chocolate, malvani spices and kokam. In the market we saw Vijaya bakery which was full of customers. We saw fresh cakes just taken out of oven in the shop. People were buying all sorts of bakery products and snacks. We also purchased few things for next day’s return journey. I would highly recommend Vijaya Bakery. By 8:30 pm we were back to our rooms. Our hosts served our dinner and it was tasty. By 10:30 we called it a day and hit the bed.

So Day 2 has been even more successful with the Abhishek in the morning and first ever visit to the beautiful Tarkarli beach. Tomorrow's day will be long tiring journey back home.
